The beneficiaries of The Garage School include both children and adults living in Shah Rasool and Neelum Colonies, two urban slums surrounding the upscale Clifton and DHA areas of Karachi.
These colonies have an average of 8-10 members per household. There is no proper hygiene, sanitation or ventilation in homes. Less or no windows in the house. No proper bathrooms. No furniture, only old and torn rugs. Kitchen usually comprises of a stove and few utensils. Such is the state of the living conditions here. The luxurious lifestyle of the surrounding posh areas has given rise to social evils and mental complexes that these people experience on a daily basis and The Garage School, through education is working to eliminate this poison seeping through the society.
